The latest and greatest...embroidering....and first post of 2013
i need to get it together with this blogging crap. here goes step one of getting it together. i realize now that i have crafter's ADD...my newest task to learn is embroidery. i am going to be the renaissance woman of crafting. uhhhh, why cant you just stick to ONE thing, says Colin. like any other craft, it can't be THAT hard. so i watched a few video tutorials on youtube and was on my merry way. i figured the best way to start is with lettering using backstitch (??? maybe, i just made that up). my friend's 30th is coming up, so i am going to make her something, i dont know what, with embroidering. so i did a practice run. i used 3 strands of the 6 that come in a thing of embroidery floss. once i got through two words, i figured out i should have used 2 strands because it was too "fat" (per colin) and the words are a bit difficult to read...
stay tuned for the finished product but here's what it looks like so far....

earring holder
colin is constantly yelling at me because my shit is ALWAYS lying around EVERYWHERE. i have to say, i can't blame him (there colin, i said it.). im taking small steps to rid myself of my hoarder tendencies, get rid of crapola and organize what i am going to keep. therefore, i started small and made myself a an earring holder using a broken screen (thanks to belle the dog) and an old picture frame.
final pic:
things i learned:
1.) you need to sand any finished material or else the paint will just fall off...specifically when you remove blue painter's tape.

2.) when you use blue painter's tape, you need to make sure it is tightly secured in all the grooves or else it will bleed.
3.) i need to stop buying/making turquoise and red earrings.
